MIT students seek to harness waste heat
July 28th, 2008
Bryan Ho, a graduate student in materials science and engineering, and Andy Muto and Daniel Kraemer, graduate students in mechanical engineering, have been working together on a thermoelectric system that could be installed in a hot-water pipe or in exhaust flues at the plant to get some extra electric power from heat currently going to waste. Research on fish scales apply to potential body armor
July 28th, 2008
Prof. Christine Ortiz and collaborators have published an article in Nature Materials that documents their experimental and computational research that reveals the materials design principles in the scales of a primitive fish known as the “dinosaur eel”. See the MIT News Office or the Boston Globe for the full story.
